The Jody Foster movie, Contact comes to mind with the question, “Am I the only one who thinks/feels/believes this way?”
“We are not alone.“
Elijah thought he was all alone. “Nope, I have plenty in reserve,” God responded.
The problem for me was (maybe still is) coming from a world where belief and action are dictated to fall within parameters packaged as “The Truth™”. God is not easily contained within a box; like, not at all. So, when we fall back on the parameter of “how” we believe, which is another way of justifying our beliefs and doctrines as “The Truth™”, it is easy to find ourselves alone in a vast wasteland.
The truth isn’t a set of doctrines required to be believed in order to acquire something. It wasn’t that we believed that set us free. We were already freed, we just couldn’t see it until we believed.

That sounds true to me Bill. the Son set us free,,,and indeed we are/ were free. However being blind indeed was a factor until we were given sight.
The blind know they need help to see, it is those who claim to be able to see who have no excuse not to.
