False prophets and teachers
So, I’ve turned the page (clicked the next chapter button on BibleGateway.com) and the first thing that jumps out at me is, “They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them…”
In the context of what we just got done reading about the gifts from God, and the subject of evil desires, denying Jesus is a lot simpler a subject than whether you say, “I do not know him,” or fail to agree to the correct doctrinal statement or fail to say a specifically worded prayer. It is more akin to, “Thanks for the help from Jesus and all, God, but I got this. You’ll see, you’ll be proud of me.”
Who will be proud of who? In the end, it truly is like a dog returning to his vomit and like a clean sow returning to wallow in the mud.
