Perverting the Message
“Wait a second. Did you just say that we participate in his divine nature through promises?”
Yeah, what did we think it was, our efforts to escape the corruption of the world caused by evil desires through…our efforts? See how we get sucked into this whole reasoning with our efforts? Here we are, always wanting to get credit for our efforts. Our efforts are the quintessential representation of the phrase, “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”
In fact, I would seriously liken “our efforts” to those very evil desires that Peter was speaking of that results in corruption of the world. Maybe not the efforts themselves, but the desire that our efforts are the ones that will be given credit, that will earn us our glory. I can’t think of another thing that would cause me to be “nearsighted and blind” and to have forgotten what it was that cleansed me from my past sins.
So, as I read Chapter 2, it is these evil desires, I see expressed as lusts, lustful desires, etc., rather than the other petty lusts that they are sold as.

I’m sorry. No, you didn't miss it! ;) I’m busy right now (nothing dangerous), so if you can be patient, I’ll try and resume soon. :)
God bless you, brother. I love this!! Will keep reading. Be safe, take care.
