Like a bad horror movie sequel, the third Thanksgiving deployed to Iraq. In the first one, those turkeys used the real baked turkeys as decorations and treated us to half-and-half, reconstituted turkey loaf (half white meat, half dark meat). In the second Thanksgiving, on our way home, there wasn’t enough powdered mashed potatoes to go around, AND we still got served that turkey loaf.
This time around, no turkey loaf, but I got served turkey pucks. We call them that, because they are generally some processed meat in the size and shape of a hockey puck. In most cases, both the meat product it is made of and the meat product it is supposed to resemble are a bit ambiguous (like Pat from SNL), but today at least we could tell it was turkey.
Tomorrow, Groundhog Day #200-something…

Happy Thanksgiving, Bill! Sounds like the cooks were trying to be creative with those turkey pucks….yikes. Your first dinner home should be a REAL turkey dinner.
Take care and stay safe.
Thanks, Mickey! Although, the first dinner home just has to be at home. No other special menu requirements! :)
turkey pucks….NOT the same. I was remembering the “lobster” you had awhile ago, too. ICKY! Was hoping you talked with your wife and kids! (hug)
Bill,
can you shoot me an email[a PM on the S.S. possibly] I want another way to contact you if possible?
Thanks big guy!
