Stick to Your Guns

The adamant statement of my belief that our justification is in Christ can seem very dogmatic, but only in the face of those dogmas that claim that what I see as true is not, or those that claim that I simply lend myself to excusing my own behavior.

I’ve said before that freedom with qualification is not freedom. I know that doesn’t work in a society that views specific rights as freedom and other activities or behavior as criminal despite there actually being freedom for people to choose to do those things if they wish. I find myself unable to describe my freedom in that manner. My freedom isn’t defined by what I can or can’t do. For even in the legal constraints of our governmental systems, I’m free. Not even the evils of communism or facism can serve to bind me.

I’ve found that the discussion of actions as the definition of freedom subverts what is the nature of freedom and denies the source of freedom. So, I will continue to describe and defend my vision of grace, and uncompromisingly so.

Bill … I appreciate this so much. Freedom is defined only by Christ! If we are free in him we are free indeed. :)

Love, Jim
