Nate tagged me on his post
a while ago, I just got too busy and forgot. I’m not much for these, but here goes.
The Rules:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (**if you’re a non-blogger, you can email them!)
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
1. I fly helicopters for the Army. Not a big surprise if you’ve read the blog or the “about” page, but of all the things I’ve ever wanted to do in my life, flying helicopters is a Middle School boy’s dream come true. Taking the good and the bad together, I am content.
2. The only thing I ever knew with a certainty was that I would be married and have children. Good thing my wife was so accommodating, huh? I don’t know if it was how I was raised, but it just was never a question in my mind.
3. I love reading. I’ve loved reading since I was a young boy. I love those authors who can tell stories without really trying. I’m not tied to a genre, but the westerns of Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey are among my favorites. They describe my favorite part of the country, the wilderness areas of the western states. A place where a man can actually feel alone without people all around him.
4. I’m not sure if it is a very mild form of dyslexia, but I’ll almost invariably invert the middle two numbers of the last four of a phone number if I don’t write it down right away. Oddly enough, once I’ve written it down, I don’t usually get it wrong anymore.
5. You couldn’t tell by looking at me, but I played soccer growing up. I played on a Base team when I was stationed in Honduras. We played in two tournaments and actually held our own against some of the local company teams and went to a shootout against the regional semi-pro team.
6. Growing up playing soccer, I never recall being yellow-carded, but playing against the Hondurans, I was yellow-carded twice in one of the tournaments. Both were on defensive plays where I beat the opposing player to the ball. In one case, I slid between a players legs. Not sure why I received a card, as the other player was nearly untouched. Another time, the player attempted to land on me as I beat him to the ball. I pushed him past me so that he would not land on my head. According to my teammates on the sidelines, it appeared as if I had reached up and grabbed the other player and slammed him to the ground behind me. Eh, perception, I guess.
7. I drove in a demolition derby once. It was my wife’s uncle’s car, and he only let me drive it after it was on its last leg (and I think, once he knew he wasn’t going to get any prize money). I don’t think I lasted half the round, but it was still a blast.
8. Nearly ever Sunday when I’m home, my oldest son and I go to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. When I talk to him on the phone, its about one of the only things he’s talked about for when I get home.
Tag: Rick, Jim, Mary (and mcdave), MMM, Mickey and pretty much anyone who stumbles across this, “You’re it!” Zoe, you’re excused, since I know Nate already tagged you.

2]I actually wanted to be a pro basketball player in my early twentys but then fell short due to life circumstances. Oh well…I don’t know if I would have ever made it anyway!
3]I’m some what of a health nut but do enjoy the “bad stuff” once in a while..
4]ok Im running out of goodies to tell…I live in California but actually went to school in Florida and lived all around Northern and Southern CA early in my childhood.
5]In my former life I had asperations of being an associate pastor. I love to encourage people..in any way I can.Oh and I can’t spell worth beans.
comin’ soon, Bill! Am in an Arts and Crafts fair tomorrow, and have alot to get done before then! (heart)
1. I’ve been married for 28 years to the most wonderful man on the earth. If he wasn’t in my life for some reason at some point, I would miss him terribly!
2. I have 3 children all over the age of 21, and 4 grandchildren. They all have us neatly wrapped around their fingers.
3. There are 3 brothers I appreciate more than they will ever know for sharing wonderful and REAL life with me over the years, two of whom I long to see face to face at some time. They are Jim, Bill, and Adam!
4. I enjoy the Arts very much and have a bent towards creativity in that way. In fact, I think I express myself much better through my hands than I ever could with my mouth.
5. I recently discovered that I like the taste of Ale.
6. I love the taste of Strawberry wine from the Amana Colonies. My other favorite is “Gvurtz”. From Fetzer vineyards of California the long version of it’s name is “Gewurtztraminer.”
7. I have the best sons on the planet, both of whom encourage me in everything I attempt to do.
8. I like movies that have depth to them. I probably enjoy “Epic” type movies the best.
Excellent! You know, I’ve thought about learning how to fly a helicopter — or trying to learn. It’s just a thought though, I haven’t actually put anything action toward it. Oh — and I, too, love Louis Louis L’Amour. I do believe I’ve read most of his books.
